Call For Papers

Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN), within the context of Space-Air-Ground Integrated Networks (SAGINs), are envisaged to be an integral part of 6G networks to achieve network connectivity anywhere on earth by integrating NTNs and terrestrial networks. NTNs can provide connectivity in unreachable areas for a terrestrial network (i.e., vessels and airplanes), or remote areas (e.g., maintain connectivity over trains, boats, planes, public safety and emergency, and aeronautical broadband). 3GPP has already discussed the integration of NTNs with mobile networks to improve service continuity and mobility and enable satellite to access a 5G ecosystem to reduce costs. This makes NTNs, and consequently SAGINs, multi-dimensional, multi-tier and heterogenous networks that integrates earth orbit satellite (i.e., GEO, MEO and LEO), airborne vehicles (i.e., HAPs, UAVs, and drones), and terrestrial networks with complex requirements for service provisioning, control, and security.

To realise this vision and achieve deep integration, efficient resource allocation and flexible network operation, a promising approach is to integrate AI and machine learning (ML) into the design, planning, and optimisation of NTNs. These intelligent approaches enable deep mining of valuable knowledge from NTNs and automatically discovers latent relations that are difficult to extract by human experts. Consequently, the intelligent NTNs can play an important role towards 6G networks. This workshop aims to bring together researchers from both industry and academia to explore cutting-edge research works about the role of NTNs and SAGINs towards 6G evolution. Hence, the workshop solicits novel contributions and technical papers on the following (but not limited to) topics:

  • Physical Layer for NTNs, including coding/decoding, channel modelling, beamforming, positioning, etc
  • Intelligent NTN for multimedia caching and transmission in wireless networks
  • Spectrum sharing management in multivendor RANs for NTN and/or SAGINs, emerging trends, and novel multiple access techniques
  • Al/ML algorithms for NTN and/or SAGINs performance optimisation
  • Testbed, experimental evaluations, and real-world applications of NTN techniques in wireless communications
  • Multi-dimensional resources management for communication, computing, sensing, and caching in NTN and/or SAGINs
  • Orchestration of computing, caching, and communications for NTN and/or SAGINs
  • AI/ML/Big Data models for integrating edge and cloud computing into NTN and/or SAGINs
  • Security, privacy, and trust aspects in NTNs and/or SAGINs
  • Energy efficiency in NTN and/or SAGINs communications and control operations
